Microchanneling is a skin treatment that uses a handheld device with very fine needles to create thousands of tiny channels in the skin. These micro-channels do not leave scars. They prompt the skin to repair itself through a process called dermal remodeling, and that repair produces new collagen, the protein that keeps skin firm and smooth. Collagen levels drop as we age, and the skin makes more of it while it is in repair mode.
We recommend three to five treatments, spaced two to four weeks apart. Over a series of sessions, microchanneling can increase the skin’s elastic fibers. It also helps the outer layer of skin, which thins with age, become thicker and firmer.
We use a sterile needle head on a handheld device. The device is pressed gently into the skin and moved across its surface, creating micro-channels that trigger new collagen and elastin.
The needles are very fine, so the treatment sounds worse than it feels. Some clients compare the sensation to a vibrating cat’s tongue. Areas with deeper imperfections can feel more tender than areas with surface concerns. We apply a topical numbing cream 30 minutes before your treatment and keep you comfortable throughout.
Most clients notice firmer skin and a more even tone a week or two after their first session. Deeper imperfections respond more slowly and usually need additional treatments. Because microchanneling stimulates new collagen and elastin, results keep building for up to six months.
No treatment can stop aging, but microchanneling can slow its visible signs. Results are not permanent, since skin keeps aging naturally. Improvements can last for several years, and a good at-home skin care routine helps them last longer.
